This workshop by Ann Cuthbert will really focus in, using description to capture clear details of people, places and things in poems. Writers want to do this to involve readers, make them feel, see, hear, smell, even believe they can taste and touch what they are writing about. Ann will be working in the miniature, not the big picture.
The aim is to be specific, not general, and use concrete language, not abstract. Participants will try to capture the moment while, as all poets do, seeing the everyday in a new way. All participants will leave with a short draft to work on.
This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced writers. Although the focus is on poetry, writers of other genres – particularly memoirs – should find this interesting and useful.
Bring your own notebook but writing materials will be available.
