Darlington for Culture is planning a full day to celebrate the achievement of local writers and offer new poets, playwrights, novelists etc the chance to develop their craft as part of Darlington Arts Festival 2018.
To this end we have hired the Friends Meeting House on Skinnergate from 10am-10pm on Saturday, 26th May. DfC are paying for the hire in order to offer local writers and writing groups the chance to run events without concerns about cost.
Literary day organiser Tracey Iceton now has 12 hours to fill at the venue so if you have an idea for an event please contact her on traceyiceton@hotmail.co.uk
She is particularly looking for author readings/performances of published work, author talks/Q&As (about any aspect of your craft e.g. the writing process, the finished product, the route to publication etc.) and for workshops/masterclasses that will help those new to writing to get started or to develop their own creative practice but she will consider any suggestions. It will be up to you whether you charge for your event.
Also, do let her know if you have an event you would like to run at an alternative venue during the rest of the festival period (May 19-June 3).
