Darlington Choral Society’s Easter Concert takes place on Saturday 13th April 7.30pm in St Cuthbert’s Church, Darlington DL1 5QG.

DCS is opening its programme with Malcolm Williamson’s ‘Procession of Palms’. Williamson was a controversial Master of the Queen’s Music, and the Procession is influenced by his background as a night-club pianist. This is followed by Bach’s wonderful Motet ‘Jesu, Priceless Treasure’. The second part of the programme is devoted to Haydn’s evergreen ‘Mass in Time of War’, which is far more cheerful than the subtitle suggests and represents ‘Happy Haydn’ at his very best.

Andrew Christer is the organist, and the Choral is joined by a quartet of locally based soloists.

  • Tickets (£12.50, U21 £5) available via the society’s website, from the Dolphin Centre, from choir members or at the door
