The Darlington Orchestra Summer Concert takes place on Saturday 6th July 7.30pm Central Hall at the Dolphin Centre.

The orchestra will perform a wide-ranging programme of light classical music, this time including early music; opera music; a selection of folk dances and a Slavonic Rhapsody; plus an uplifting march by Eric Coates.

Special guests will be community choir St Herbert’s Singers. They will perform a selection from their repertoire that spans sacred and secular music and songs from the shows, sung in three parts – soprano, mezzo and alto.

In addition, Sophia Nikolaiets will perform an aria from a Puccini opera, demonstrating her amazing vocal range and talent. Sophia also plays the violin in Darlington Orchestra.

A printed programme will be available for concert-goers with brief explanations about the music and composers, with a version specially for 5- to 11-year-olds.

The informal but informative style of presentation promises a great night of live music whether it’s your first or 101st orchestral concert.
