Darlington Music Society‘s final concert of the 2017/2018 season presents the Marmen Quartet on Saturday 21st April 7.30pm at The Dolphin Centre.

Mozart – String Quartet No 14 in G, K 387 ‘Spring’
Janacek – String Quartet No.1 ‘Kreutzer Sonata’
Beethoven – String Quartet No 10, Op 74 ‘Harp’

The Marmen Quartet was founded at the Royal College of Music, London. They perform regularly in venues around the UK and internationally. Since its formation the quartet has enjoyed masterclasses with Shmuel Ashkenazi, Rainer Schmidt, Eberhard Feltz, and Johannes Meissl, as well as regular coaching sessions with Simon Rowland-Jones and the late Peter Cropper.

As the winners of Music in the Round’s professional development scheme – ‘Bridges’ – they will receive three years of mentoring, financial support, guidance in every aspect if life as a string quartet and regular performance opportunities. They have been appointed Associate Ensemble at Birmingham Conservatoire and Ensemble in Residence with Salomon Smith Chamber Music Society.

Recent highlights have included collaborations with Ensemble 360 and the Sacconi Quartet, a 2 week residency with Albeburgh Music and live appearances on ‘Swedish Radio’ and ‘BBC in Tune’.
