The Committee of the Friends of Darlington Libraries is leading on efforts to save Crown Street Library following the council decision to close it. They have asked that people channel all suggestions and ideas for saving the library through the Friends at alan.macnab@ntlworld.com
The Friends say: “The Friends of Darlington Libraries was suggested in May 2016 by a resident as a way to provide a platform for wider public involvement with a view to safeguarding the library service.
“We declared support for any plans which may persuade the council to work with the community. We know that Crown Street especially has an uncertain future and this is the time to use all our collective initiatives and energy to the best effect, which will be the only route to a successful outcome. The library needs friends.”
