The next Arts Society Lecture is by Patricia Andrew ‘To Russia with Love’ on Monday 16th March 2020 at 2pm, Blackwell Grange Hotel, Darlington DL3 8QH.

Patricia Andrew has had a wide-ranging career. She has an English Literature and an Art History degree and has taught in Italy. She has been a museum curator where she was responsible for collections of art and of military history.

From 1996-2002, Dr Andrew was responsible for professional advice and standards development at the Scottish Museums Council. Since then, she has been a lecturer, heritage consultant and university teacher. This combined with art-historical research principally on the topics of the British in Italy and British architects, artists and garden designers abroad, 1700-1850. She has also researched the art of the first half of the twentieth century, garden history and war art.

This promises to be a very interesting lecture focusing on the legacy of British artists, architects and garden designers in the palaces and gardens of St. Petersburg.
