The Dance Festival 2019 kicks off on Saturday 18 May in Joseph Pease Place with performances throughout the day by local dance schools and organisations. They will be promoting the mass dance planned the next day, with the theme ‘This is me’ challenging inequality.

At 1pm on Sunday 19 May, dance schools and community groups join together to perform one mass dance.

The event aims to promote how dancing can bring everyone together regardless of background, age, gender, race, disability, or sexual orientation – dancing can be enjoyed by all.

If you are a group or you just want to take part, the mass dance organisers can come to you and teach the mass dance or you can attend weekly open sessions during April and May.

The event is organised by Darlington Dance Festival Association who are a voluntary group who come together to ‘get Darlo dancing’.
