The Hullabaloo has announced its exciting programme for summer 2019.

Children, young people, and their families will be entertained with a mix of free creative-play installations, practical workshops with world-class theatre makers and the chance to put together a play in a day that they can then share with their families. The jam-packed programme hopes to help children and parents make the most of the holidays, while providing free spaces for the community to enjoy.

Highlights include Deep Sea Adventures Workshop (age 8-12 years) from Monday 29 to Wednesday 31 July, where adventurers can join artists Becci, Roma and Toni on a voyage of discovery to imagine a magical journey going deep into the ocean. In this creative-play workshop, there’ll be opportunities to move around, respond to images and sound and a chance to inspire the design of Theatre Hullabaloo’s exciting new installation Deep Sea Adventures coming in November.

In August, Roma will also be running Enchanted Village Workshop, where children aged 7+ will have the opportunity to design and build their own fairy houses and fill them with technological magic.

For ages 5-8 and 7-14, Play in a Day will be a fantastic way for children to develop confidence, learn new skills and games, have fun, be part of a team and make new friends. Led by actor and storyteller Chris Connaughton, well-known tales The Enormous Turnip for ages 5-8 (21 August) and Stone Soup for ages 7-14yrs (22 August) will be turned into brilliant new plays to be performed to family and friends.

There’s also plenty of free things to do at The Hullabaloo this summer. Enchanted Forest and the Story Corner will be open every Monday to Saturday 10am-2pm, while the outdoor Creative Play space will give little ones and their grown-ups a place to enjoy the sunshine together.

  • Tickets for the workshops and play in a day are £7 each; additional sibling tickets £6 (max 2)
