The Ukranian pianist, Dinara Klinton, makes a return visit to Darlington Piano Society on Sunday 20th February, having made her first appearance here almost exactly four years ago.
Her recital programmes are always inventive and of great interest and the programme for this recital is no different. Dinara herself describes her programme as one strongly influenced by Russian literature, and it includes works which reveal a fairy-tale theme from different perspectives.
As well as familiar composers such as Prokofiev, Rachmaninov and Stravinsky, there are composers far less well known – Tanayev and Liadov for example – and there are works which form the core repertoire of pianists worldwide, as well as rarities and hidden gems, all part of the history of Russian classical music.
Dinara Klinton was born in Ukraine and following early studies in Moscow gained a Master of Performance degree with distinction and an Artist Diploma in Performance at the Royal College of Music, where she is now an Assistant Piano Professor. She was the first recipient of the prestigious Benjamin Britten Fellowship, generously supported by the Philip Loubser Foundation.

The recital takes place in Central Hall, the Dolphin Centre, at 3pm on Sunday 20th February.
