Opus 4 Jazz Club on Friday 8th March presents Alter Ego, a long-established and accomplished modern jazz sextet from Newcastle.

This will be the group’s first appearance at Opus 4 where the material will revolve, in part, around the Jazz Messengers, an influential jazz combo that existed for more than 35 years beginning in the 1950s as a collective and ending when long-time leader and founding drummer Art Blakey died in 1990.

Alter Ego’s personnel are: Dave Robinson (leader) alto sax; Nial Armstrong, tenor sax; Dave Hignett, trumpet and flugel horn; Bradley Johnston, guitar; Toney Abel, Bass; Dave Francis, drums.
