The next concert of the Darlington Music Society will be at the Dolphin Centre on Saturday 3rd November 7.30 pm.

The concert is going to be given by Olga Stezhko on piano and Raphaela Papadakis, a soprano. They will be performing a wide variety of composers – Schubert, Bach, Clara Schumann, Debussy, Poulenc, Ravel and Bernstein.

About the performers:

Olga Stezhko is an award-winning concert pianist, recording artist and leading interpreter of early and mid-20th-century piano repertoire.

She has performed at premier venues from the Barbican Hall, The Salle Cortot, Paris, and Carnegie Hall, both as a soloist and in recital. Highlights include performances in St. Martin-in-the-fields, Wigmore Hall, the National Gallery, Palermo Classica Festival, Leeds International Concert Season and the ‘Belarusians of the World’ Arts Festival in Minsk.

 

Raphaela Papadakis was the winner of the National Mozart Competition in 2015. She made her professional debut at Garsington Opera. Since then she has performed roles with Independent Opera and Bury Court Opera and covered at the Royal Opera House and the Berlin Staatsoper.

She performed at Carnegie Hall in 2014, and was a Vocal Fellow at the Ravinia Festival, Chicago. Raphaela’s awards and prizes include the York Early Music Festival Prize at the London Handel Festival, 1st prize and Audience Prize at the Clonter Opera Competition and 1st Prize at the Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards.
