The next concert of the Darlington Music Society will be given on Saturday 12th February at the Dolphin Centre. It is going to be given by Sirius Chau – playing the flute, and Irena Radić – a pianist. They will be playing pieces by composers including Prokofiev, Schumann, Poulenc and a fantasy by Fruhling.
About the performers:
Sirius Chau is a flautist from Hong-Kong. He won the Royal Overseas League Competition. He received the Tagore Gold Medal Scholarship in 2019 and made his solo debut at the Wigmore Hall and also the Bridgewater Hall in that same year. He is a prizewinner in International and National Competitions including winning 1st prize at Eugene Magalif’s Flute Concerto International Competition (USA) and the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist Competition. Orchestra experience include working with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the English National Opera and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. A revue in the Eastbourne Herald said ‘His performance lacked nothing. The musicality and technical skills were there to see and hear’.
Irena Radić is an award winning pianist and versatile chamber musician. She was a finalist in the Bromsgrove International Musicians Competition in 2018. She gained her Master of Performance Degree with Distinction in 2020. Recent performances have featured works such as Rachmaninoff’s 10 Preludes, Brahma’s Piano Trio in B Major & Prokofiev’s 5 Melodies of Violin & Piano. She also plays orchestral piano and has performed in venues including Cadogan Hall and the Royal Festival Hall.

Season Tickets are £60, and whilst they have had 1 of their 6 concerts before Christmas, there are still 5 including this one, so this might still be relevant for you. A limited number of tickets can be bought at the concert and we have a card reader this year. People 25 years of age and under can come for free! This is a scheme of the ‘Cavatina Chamber Music Trust’ – in the hope that they ‘catch the music bug’ so-to-speak. This concert is being supported by the Philip & Dorothy Green Young Artist Trust. Face coverings cannot be mandatory now, though you may still wish to wear one whilst moving about. Seating will be well spaced out!
