⭐ Mario Häring Recital
📍 Central Hall: The Dolphin Centre
📅 20th November, 3.00pm

Darlington Piano Society’s second recital of the season sees a Darlington debut for the second prize winner at the 2018 Leeds International Piano Competition, Mario Häring. Born into a German-Japanese family in Hannover in 1989, Mario began piano lessons in 1994 and completed his studies there in 2017 with, amongst others, the late Lars Vogt, the principal conductor of the Royal Northern Sinfonia for five years. He gave his first concerto performance in 2003, at Berlin’s Philharmonic Hall. Since then, his concert activities have taken him to renowned halls such as Konzerthaus Berlin, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Wigmore Hall in London and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. He is a frequent performer at festivals throughout Europe and in recent years he has performed as part of the ECHO “Rising Stars” both as a solo pianist and with several chamber musicians.

Greg Johnson, Society chairman, said “Mario is an infrequent visitor to the UK, much of his performances being in mainland Europe. As well as being Mario’s debut in Darlington, this is his first visit to the region, as a scheduled chamber music recital at Sage Gateshead in January 2021 was cancelled because of Covid-19. He brings a programme of 19th and 20th century works by Schönberg, Brahms, Wagner (arranged Liszt), Debussy, Scriabin and Schumann, a programme of considerable variety”.

The recital takes place in Central Hall, the Dolphin Centre, at 3pm on Sunday 20th November. Details of the full programme are available at www.dpiano.co.uk. Tickets can also be purchased through the website and will also be available at the door on the day, price £15, with under 25’s free.
