The 4th concert of the season will be given on Saturday 11th February at 7.30 pm at the Dolphin Centre. It is going to be given by the Northern Chords Piano Trio. This comprises of Daniel Lebhardt (piano), Benjamin Baker (violin) & Jonathan Bloxham (cello). They will be playing 2 piano trios by Mendelssohn and a piece by Matthew Kaner – Highland Scenes.
About the Performers:
Benjamin Baker (violin): In 2016 Benjamin Baker won 1st prize at the Young Concert Artists auditions in New York and in 2017 3rd prize at the Michael Hill Competition in New Zealand. He has played at the Merkin Concert Hall, New York; the Kennedy Center, Washington; the Festspekle Mecklenburg Vorpommern, Germany. He has toured in Danada, China, Argentina, Colombia and Chile. He took part in the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival and the Caramoor Rising Stars series, both in New York.
Jonathan Bloxham (Cellist) has won several prestigious awards including the Guilhornina Suggia Gift award and also the Royal College of Music Cello Prize. In 2012 he gave his concerto debut at the Berlin Philharmonie. He was a founder member of the Busch Trio until 2015 with which he won prizes at many international competitions including the Royal Overseas League, London. He has played at the Wigmore Hall, King’s Place and the Southbank Centre. He is a frequent guest on BBC Radio 3.
Daniel Lebhardt (piano). In 2014 he won 1st prize at the Young Concert Artists auditions in New York. In 2015 he was invited to record music by Bartok for ‘Decca’ – classical music label. In 2016 he won the Gelffrey Tozer Most Promising Pianist’ prize at Sydney International Competition. He has performed at the Barbican, London and the Symphony Hall, Birmingham. Other highlights include tours in China, South America and the USA.

Alternatively tickets can be obtained from the Darlington Music Society website by following the link. People 25 years of age and under can come to our concerts for free! This is a scheme of the ‘Cavatina Chamber Music Trust’ – in the hope that they ‘catch the music bug’ so-to-speak! A limited number of tickets can be obtained at the concetrt and we have a bank-card readers now. Face coverings are your choice now. Seating will still be well spaced out!
